Our various runners and stairs carpet runners stock ranges
are still woven by craftsmen on traditional Axminster
or Wilton Jacquard looms, and with pile velvets made
of 100% pure wool or 80% wool and 20% nylon.
The Stair Carpet Runners.com collection (maybe
one the most important available now) offer a unique choice
of more than 150 carpet runner, stair runner
and rug runner options available from stock.
Also most of our various carpet runners, stair runners
and stair carpet runners,are woven as continous roll
runners unlike our rug runners manufactured
as rugs.
What does it means for you ??? and how to to clarify those
subtleties of grammar related to the "wonderful world of carpet and
rugs"...
* Let us start by the easiest and say that in fact Rug
runners are before anything else...Rugs...available
with a narrow rectangular shape and they generally come with borders
on 4 sides
They are also having a special rug finish with bound ends
and are serged / whipped with color coordinated yarn on the two
side lengths
They are mostly used as hallways runners rather than stair runners
* As already said Stair runners or in fact stair
carpet runners are for most of them woven as continuous
roll runners
To do so we may use various carpet manufacturing processes which
are the following ones :
a) Wilton
jacquard weaving on narrow looms (mainly 60cm/23.5'' 70cm/27.5''
80cm/31.5'' 90cm/35.5'' 1m/39.3'' )
b) Axminster
on narrow looms (mainly 69cm/27'' and 91cm/3' or 36'' wide looms)
c) Wilton "face
to face" broad looms
Stair runners woven using a) or b)
processes comes with woven selvedges (on each
length sides) meaning that they will not fray and in fact, do
not request any additional whipping or serging other than
for decorative purpose
Carpet runners manufactured from c) are actually
power loomed side-by-side on a 4m/13'1'' width then they are machine
cut to their final width (66cm/26'' or 83cm/32.5'') and finished
with a whipping/serging done with coordinated yarn on each length
sides in order to prevent fraying
* Stair runners and stair carpet runners may both be finished
by whipping/serging at both ends (or side up/side down)
or left raw cuts to be adjusted or/and finished on site
